The Accident
The cold February morning started like any other ordinary morning for
tractor trailer truck driver Dean Hatch. But this morning would prove
to be anything but ordinary.

On this particular morning Dean was hauling plastic corrugated pipes,
which are used for Agriculture and sewer drainage systems, to
Winwater works.  At about 6 am he was preparing the trailer for
unloading when disaster struck.

A tubular steel gate unexpectedly released trapping Dean not only
under the weight of the gate, but the pipes as well. A quick thinking
employee of Winwater works used his forklift to relieve some of the
pressure off of Dean until the ambulance could arrive.  Dean was
then rushed in critical condition to Cape Cod Hospital.

Family and friends anxiously awaited the news of his condition. Then
the devastating news came. Dean was diagnosed with injury to his
brain as well as a broken back. Dean was totally paralyzed. The doctor’
s decided to put Dean in a drug induced coma as they consulted with
his wife about what would be the best course of action.

They decided to life flight him to Brigham Women’s Hospital in Boston.
The outlook for any recovery at this time was grim. Preparing for the
worst, hoping for the best, Family and friends could only pray for the
54 yr old Truck driver.
